Overview |
From the Bill of Materials System, you can create and maintain Bill of Material (BOM) items.
A BOM item is manufactured from stock items and then placed on the shelf and sold as an individual inventory item. Once the BOM item is manufactured and placed on the shelf, the stock items that were used to build the BOM item are relieved from inventory. This differs from kits in that their components are only relieved from inventory at the time of the sale of the kit item. In the case of a BOM item, the components that are used to build it are relieved from inventory the moment that the BOM item is stocked on the shelf. BOM items are most commonly used by manufacturers. |
